Know where your files go.
A public sample, a file comparison, and a shared review have different data lifetimes. Here’s what to know before you choose.
Trying a sample
The revision challenge uses Kord’s public sample drawings. You don’t need to upload your own files or create an account. Sharing the challenge sends a link to those samples.
Comparing your files
The free diff tool combines browser rendering with server-side extraction and conversion. The path depends on the file format and the view you select. It is not an entirely local-only tool.
Large files can pass through temporary uploads. Extracted content, preview files and redlines can be cached temporarily to avoid repeating expensive conversions. These temporary files are subject to scheduled cleanup; closing the tab does not mean every server-side copy is immediately deleted.
Sharing a comparison
Creating a share link retains the files needed to show that comparison. Check the access setting and expiry in the share flow. A link set to “Anyone with the link” can be opened by its recipients without an account. An account-restricted link requires sign-in.
The anonymous share API defaults to a seven-day link. Signed-in sharing has separate expiry options. The public revision challenge is a stable sample page, not a link to an uploaded customer document.
Engineering review still needs an engineer
A visual diff identifies differences; it does not establish that a change is correct or safe. AI-assisted checks can miss context or flag a value that is intentional. Review source documents and make the engineering decision before approval.
